Find out about the benefits of joining AGRA and the practicalities of running a successful genealogy practice.
Start: 27th January 2018
Society of Genealogists, 14 Charterhouse Buildings, Goswell Road, London EC1M 7BA
AGRA (the Association of Genealogists and Researchers in Archives) celebrates its 50th birthday in 2018 and to start the celebrations we are holding an Open Day at the Society of Genealogists.
The session is aimed at anyone currently working as a professional genealogist or planning on doing so in the near future. A selection of talks by experienced AGRA members will describe the advantages of joining AGRA, the leading professional association for professional genealogists in England and Wales, and guide you through the application process. There will also be some guidance on how to successfully run a professional genealogy practice, including advice on social media and marketing, from those who have done so for many years.
The entry fee includes a sandwich lunch (from 1 p.m.) so that attendees have the opportunity of networking both amongst themselves, and with AGRA members, before the talks begin in the afternoon. The £10 entry fee will be deducted from the first year’s AGRA subscription for any successful applicants attending this event.
There is also the opportunity for a free SoG Library tour in the morning, for those who are perhaps not familiar with the SoG library and its wealth of genealogical information (needs to be booked separately).
Booking is now open on the SoG website: http://www.sog.org.uk/books-courses/events-courses/joining-agra-benefits-and-practicalities-of-running-a-successful-gene
