Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Can AGRA help me with my family history?

No. However, AGRA does advertise the professional services and research expertise of our Members. Please contact a Member directly (rather than the Secretary) if you would like to commission any research. Fees vary from Member to Member, and a Member may have different charges for different services. A list of Members can be found through our Find a researcher page. If you wish to search for a Member with a particular research speciality (e.g. Military records or County Durham) then choose the Search for a Researcher by Expertise option.

What do I need to do to become a Member of AGRA?

To become a Member, you need to be living within the British Isles and involved in genealogical research as part of your profession. You will also need to meet the standards of research and professional services that AGRA is trying to promote. To determine this, you would be assessed to determine your suitability for Membership. Qualifications, services advertised and a portfolio of work carried out for clients are taken into consideration as part of the assessment process.
