27 August 2010  - AGRA and  ASGRA form new Partnership

We are pleased to announce a new partnership initiative with the Association of Scottish Genealogists and Researchers in Archives (ASGRA).

Although both organisations will still retain their own autonomy in control of their own administration, finance and assessment procedures the associations will come together with mirrored web sites, will have a joint initiative on promotion and publicity and will work towards assimilating  requirements of membership and codes of practice, continuing to reflect the high standards that AGRA and ASGRA demand from it's members. Both associations will share member benefits and share the members area of the AGRA web site and undertake joint promotional ventures with regards to advertising and attendance at events such as WDYTYA at Olympia.

ASGRA Chair, Janet Bishop says “I see such a partnership as mutually beneficial, we have to be realistic in an age where so much is now available on line and people can do research anywhere in the world. We will have a much wider audience than at present”

AGRA Chair, Ian Marson says “I look forward to working closely with ASGRA, I have always maintained that we need to grow and make our presence known in the genealogical community, thus attracting new members, maintaining standards in professional research services and gaining new commissions for our members, I see such a partnership as a positive move in that direction”
