Learning more about one of the capital's biggest repositories
On 26 September twenty Members and Associates took part in the visit to London Metropolitan Archives (LMA) which was preceded by lunch in the Crown Pub in Clerkenwell Green.
David Luck (Senior Archivist) explained the extent of the Archive Collection and showed how to use the catalogue more efficiently. He showed some examples of documents that had been digitised either by Ancestry or by LMA.
Caroline de Stefani (Conservation Studio Manager) showed how LMA conserve documents and manuscripts, and the difficulties of prioritising what needs to be conserved. Examples of the work of the Studio were shown.
