I am a highly experienced family historian and genealogist with over 35 years of professional and private research experience, offering a reliable, thorough, and client-focused service to individuals in the UK and overseas.

I am an Associate Member of AGRA and have been a Trustee of FIBIS (Families in British India Society) for over 25 years. I am also a long-standing member of the Society of Genealogists, a lifetime member of BACSA, and an active subscriber to numerous family history and specialist research societies.

My research work is supported by extensive use of leading online and archival resources, including The National Archives, London Metropolitan Archives, Ancestry, Findmypast, The Genealogist, MyHeritage, Scotland’s People, FamilySearch, Trove (Australia) and other specialist databases and publications.

Archives, Volunteering & Community Work

I volunteer weekly at the Sussex Family History Group room at The Keep Archive Centre (East Sussex Record Office), where I also run a Family History Group for Preston Park U3A. This ongoing archival involvement ensures my research skills remain current and grounded in original source material.

Geographical Expertise & Personal Background

My research experience spans England, Scotland, the Channel Islands, Ireland, India, and Australia, with occasional work in the United States.

I currently run two registered projects with The Guild of One-Name Studies:

WOODNUTT – my maiden name, with origins in Cheshire, London, and the Isle of Wight

VANDERVORD – my husband’s maternal line, established in Essex from 1635, associated with Hoymen on the River Thames.
