Originally from Melbourne, Australia, I have been living in the UK since 2000, and Romney Marsh since 2009, where I have developed a passion for the history of the local area.
I specialise in UK and Australian family history research, tracing the stories of those who made the significant journey from Britain to Australia, whether as convicts, assisted migrants, or free settlers. My own research has taken me across Australia, including Victoria, Tasmania and New South Wales, as well as most parts of the UK. This has given me an understanding of both record systems and the histories that connect them.
My research experience spans over thirty years, beginning in Australia in the early 1990s, prior to digitisation, and continuing through the extensive use of repositories in England, including Kent Archives, Canterbury Cathedral Archives, Medway Archives, The National Archives, and many other London archives. I hold formal qualifications including the University of Tasmania Diploma in Family History and the Society of Australian Genealogists Certificate in Family History, and am currently undertaking the IHGS Higher Certificate in Genealogy and Pharos Advanced Certificate in Genealogy.
In addition to genealogical research, I offer professional historical document transcription and palaeography services, specialising in English language documents from the sixteenth century onwards. I work with a wide range of historical record types including wills and probate documents, parish registers, court records, land records and correspondence.
I have worked with clients across the United Kingdom, Australia, the United States, Spain and Papua New Guinea. All research is conducted with the highest professional standards, ensuring every conclusion is supported by evidence and every source properly recorded.
Projects range from comprehensive family histories or focused single or multi-line research packages, to targeted research blocks addressing specific questions or breaking through brick walls. Whether you are just beginning your family history journey or need expert help to take your research further, I would be delighted to hear from you.
