Based at the edge of the Nant Ffrancon Valley in Snowdonia, North Wales, The History House ('Domus Historiae' in Latin) provides a genealogical and family history research service.

My family tree packages cover the whole of England and Wales. However, for archive work I am able to visit archives in Anglesey, North Gwynedd, Conwy, Denbighshire and Flintshire.  I have a particular interest in the history of slate quarries and the lives of slate quarrymen and their families, and the history of climbing and climbing accidents in North Wales, but cover all aspects of family history from the 18th century onwards.  

I graduated with a First-Class Honours degree in Medieval and Early Modern History from Bangor University, North Wales, where I also gained my PhD. In addition, I have completed the Pharos Family History Skills and Strategies (Intermediate) course, with Distinction.

I have provided entries for the on-line Oxford Dictionary of National Biography, and my first book, 'Margaret Pole Countess of Salisbury 1473-1541: Loyalty, Lineage and Leadership', was published by Cardiff University Press. My second book will be published in 2025 `Edward IV’s Fatal Legacy: The Restoration and Ruin of the Courtenays, 1479-1558 (Pen and Sword Books, September 2025).

I am an Honorary Research Fellow in the School of History, Law and Social Sciences, Bangor University, and an elected fellow of the Royal Historical Society.
