Finding out about your ancestors isn't just about names and dates. It is about discovering where you have come from and about bringing their characters and lives to "life", often discovering a sense of belonging in the process. Genealogy is now very popular and although there is a wealth of information becoming available electronically, research is not always easy and straight forward. There are many mistakes that can be made along the way.
I have been studying with the Institute of Heraldic and Genealogical Studies (IHGS) passed the Diploma in Genealogy in July 2019 having obtained the Higher Certificate in Genealogy in 2018. I am a Member of AGRA (Association of Genealogy and Researchers in Archives).
Based in Woking, Surrey I am ideally based for easy access to the Surrey History Centre, The National Archives (TNA) in Kew, the London Metropolitan Archives (LMA), The Society of Genealogists (SoG) and other London Archives and also with easy reach of Sussex.

Many thanks for doing all this research – it look like a lot more than a day’s work! Your report is very interesting. So there were actually 4 in the Kelly family we didn’t know of!
The Smith family are much more difficult to track down and you’ve done a great job getting so far. I’ll sift through your report and see what more I can do, but it may be that we’ve taken it as far as is reasonable with such a common surname.
