Gillian Cable PgCert (Genealogy)

Gillian Cable carries out bespoke genealogy and family history research and is based in South Yorkshire. She can readily access archives in a number of nearby archives; however, she is happy to travel much further afield, and with the aid of online materials etc., can provide a research service to a wider geographical area within the UK.

Gillian specialises in a broad spectrum of commissions. In particular, she enjoys producing high quality reports for several family generations. These include the report objective, a logical progression of research undertaken, a family tree chart, copies of documents uncovered or details of copyright material, further documentation where appropriate e.g. maps and newspaper articles, and are fully referenced. She is astute in finding and correlating historical document information uncovered in archives and online.

Experience and Qualification

After commencing her own family research approximately 25-30 years ago, she utilised her knowledge to help others and expand her abilities. Originally based in North Cambridgeshire, she turned professional, and for a while became the Chair of the Peterborough & District Family History Society, and is still involved in the Society's committee. She has also attained the Higher Certificate in Genealogy with the Institute of Heraldic and Genealogy Studies, and the Postgraduate Certificate in Genealogical, Palaeographic and Heraldic Studies with Strathclyde University.

Pricing

Typically, the pricing is by an hourly rate, plus expenses, or she can provide a bespoke commission quote according to the client’s budget and aspirations.
