Having spent over half my life delving into my own fascinating family history, I now enjoy helping others discover their ancestry. I combine DNA analysis with family history research to add an extra dimension to your ancestry investigations or discover unknown branches of your family. In particular, I help people searching for unknown parents such as adoptees. Using genetic genealogy and family history allows me to use my scientific analysis skills gained as a safety engineer. I also provide a number of traditional genealogy research services including family history research, archive look-ups, and verification of research.
Based in Gloucester, I have easy access to Gloucestershire Heritage Hub as well as other archives in the South West and Midlands. I have a strong connection with the Society of Genealogist as a volunteer and previous trustee.
Furthering other people's knowledge is important and I provide talks both locally and further afield as well as hosting family history workshops. I also provide one to one sessions to help you progress your own research either in person or more often now by Zoom.
I work closely with AGRA member Kathy Wilshaw under our joint venture MKDNA. In addition to a joint service for adopted adults searching for birth family, she also supports me in organising my business.

I have spent a lifetime wondering who my absent father was, trying unsuccessfully over decades to unpick the mystery so I would finally know the full truth of where I come from. Using DNA test matching and deep analysis of family trees, public records and family history, and combining that with great care, compassion and empathy, Mia identified him in two working days. There are no words in the English I know which can fully explain the glory of ‘meeting’ your father for the first time as you enter old age yourself. Overwhelming and wonderful will have to do.

I can highly recommend Mia Genealogy. I was adopted in 1944 and Amelia was able to track down my biological Father from a DNA test which only showed a number of 2nd and 3rd cousins. The results were very clearly explained and it only took a few weeks !!

I would highly recommend Mia Genealogy to anyone seeking information regarding family history and antecedents. Mia takes a very thorough approach to her work and provided me with a comprehensive report of exactly what I was seeking. She is also open, friendly and sensitive to what can be very personal circumstances. Brilliant service.
