Lejeune Genealogy specialises in solving difficult genealogical problems and guiding researchers through complex historical records.

Many family historians reach a point where progress becomes difficult, whether they are trying to understand more about their family’s past or resolve a line of enquiry that no longer seems to lead anywhere. I work with clients to overcome these “brick walls” through targeted archival research and careful analysis of original sources.

This often arises where earlier generations become harder to trace, records are incomplete, or long-standing family questions remain unanswered. My work focuses on identifying and interpreting the sources needed to move beyond these obstacles.

My particular expertise lies in seventeenth-century research, supported by an MRes focused on the English Civil War and Interregnum period. I am experienced in palaeography, enabling me to read and interpret early modern handwriting and documents that are often inaccessible to non-specialists. I also undertake naval and maritime research, an area frequently central to British family history. I specialise in working with fragmentary or complex material to reconstruct earlier generations.

Based in Hampshire, I regularly work in archives across Hampshire and West Sussex, and I also conduct research in London’s major national and specialist repositories. Much of my work involves records that are not available online and require direct archival investigation.

I work both with clients seeking targeted research projects and with experienced researchers who require professional guidance, document interpretation, or strategic advice to move their work forward.
